Essential Oils to Lower High Blood Pressure and Get Rid of Dry Mouth and Dry Coughs Naturally

I recently had yet another person ask me what doTerra essential oils might help with dry mouth.  My first advice is to look at any prescription drugs that are being taken.  There are over 400 drugs that have dry mouth as a side effect.  For example, a friend of mine was taking blood pressure medication and was seriously suffering from dry mouth and a tickle in the throat.  I did not recommend that she go off her medication but told her we would use essential oils known to help lower blood pressure naturally and once her doctor saw her blood pressure decreasing, he would lower her medication.

I have another friend who said her doctor was monitoring her blood pressure because it tended to go high.  She was determined not to go on medication for high blood pressure but rather to lower her blood pressure naturally so she began using Ylang Ylang and Cypress.  At her next check-up she was told her blood pressure was just fine!  No more high blood pressure!

For high blood pressure:

Take a gel cap with one of the following blends two times a day (Can use one blend in the morning and a different blend in the evening if desired)

Blend #1-   4 drops Marjoram, 4 drops Basil

Blend #2-   4 drops Marjoram, 4 drops Lavender

Blend #3 (heavy duty)-   5 drops Marjoram, 4 drops Cypress, 4 drops Ylang Ylang and 4 drops Lemon.

Another wonderful way to lower blood pressure naturally using essential oils is to combine 25 drops Ylang Ylang, 25 drops Cypress and 25 drops Marjoram essential oils and put into a 10 ml roller ball bottle.  (I buy mine from Then, fill the bottle up the rest of the way with fractionated coconut oil.  To use, roll the oil on the wrists and on the bottoms of the feet a couple of times a day.

Also, rub AromaTouch on the feet nightly.  Using Wintergreen after AromaTouch makes it stronger.

CAUTION: Avoid thyme, rosemary and possibly peppermint if you have high blood pressure!

For a dry cough:

One drop of On Guard on back of tongue as needed.

Rosemary under the tongue every hour for one day.

Diffuse Breathe or Lavender.

For a dry mouth:

If the dryness is due to high blood pressure medication (known to produce dry coughs), lower the high blood pressure naturally with the essential oils and then gradually lower blood pressure medication with doctor’s supervision.

Do an oil pull using the 2 T coconut oil with two drops of clove and two drops of oregano to get the salivary glands activated.  Just do it once a day, swishing the oil mixture around the mouth for about 10 minutes.  Remember, don't swallow the oils mixture-it contains toxins that have been drawn from the body.

I've also heard of swishing water with lavender and lemon but I think the oil pull is better.

I came up with the following recipes when someone asked me how to treat dry mouth naturally using essential oils.  They are great for anyone who suffers from dry mouth. Most mouthwashes contain alcohol which can be drying (and may actually be contributing to the dry mouth) so it has been purposely left out of these recipes. CAUTION: Avoid thyme, rosemary and possibly peppermint if you have high blood pressure! Just make the following recipes without the mint if you are treating dry mouth that is due to high blood pressure medications.

2 1/2 cups distilled water (or boiled water)

Thank you for the dry mouth info. I have Sjogrens Syndrome which causes dry mouth. I got into Do Terra a couple months ago and in the last day or two I have been looking for some way to use oils for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Monica

thank you for your post!! I love doTERRA!!! VERY IMPORTANT: I have found in my research that Thyme is NOT recommended for high blood pressure as it actually INCREASES blood pressure.

Thank-you very much for pointing out that thyme is not good for high blood pressure! I have noted that above in the post. Also, rosemary and possibly peppermint should also be avoided. Thanks!
